FRENCH DATE

When my sister came to visit, we made sure to do touristy things that any pair of sisters would do. In addition to shopping (see gorgeous dress below), one of the non-touristy things we ended up participating in was spending one morning at Epicerie, an Austin favorite known for their Sunday brunch.

My sis (always stuck with the younger sister who would snap photos of absolutely every detail if she had it her way), graciously allowed me to take a few photos of our rendezvous. Until my camera ran out of battery, of course.

Unfortunately for us, I didn't realize that the "Sunday Brunch" is really, truly, only offered on Sunday. I was a disappointed sloth, let me tell you.
My sister remained unfazed, despite the catastrophe. Older sisters do know best.
We just enjoyed little cappuccinos together, and later made our way to a French place downtown known for their delicious crepes, appropriately named Le Cafe Crepe . I totally would have taken photos, but as you know, le Nikon had gone to sleep for the rest of the day.
Next time I make it back to Epicerie (on a Sunday, mind you), I must remember to bring the camera along to show you the goods. :) Same thing goes for Le Cafe Crepe!

Hope you guys are enjoying the week. xoxo

DIANA GREENBERG ARTIST RECEPTION

Happy Friday, loves! My big sis is in town, so I'm just quickly dropping in to let those of you in Austin know of a fun event tonight going on tonight that's featuring a local artist:
Remember Diana? :) She has a show that will take place tonight from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Flatbed Press. Here's the location if you aren't familiar with it:

Flatbed Press
2832 E MLK Blvd
Austin, TX 78702

It should be a good show! There will be other artists showing their work as well.

Have a great weekend, and hope some of you guys can make it!

FLOWERS & VOGUE

Annnd celebration time! It's Friday, guys! :)

Yesterday morning, I was scuttling around in Austin's morning drizzle in an effort to find just the right flowers for a few friends. I didn't even make it as far as the checkout lines when I saw a gorgeous image perfectly in line with my eyes:
I usually pride myself in my achievements of pulling my hands away from enticing fashion magazines, but this time I couldn't stop myself.
Unfortunately, I've always been the type of person to judge a book by its cover--according to this cover, the entire issue would be incredible, don't you think?
In addition to my small problem of convincing myself that anything with pages will be entertaining based on its exterior, I also tend to flip quickly around, staring only at images and forgetting about the words.

We'll see if the stories are up to par with the insane imagery.
Meanwhile, the flower arranging went well--meaning I managed to get three skinny bouquets out of the lot that didn't look completely ridiculous. Somewhat selfishly, one of the main reasons I love giving flowers to friends and acquaintances is the surprised reaction. It's like I'm lurking behind the shadows, waiting to jump out with both arms roving when somebody receives their fragrant petals and sleek leaves.
I was puffed with pride at the store when I decided not to buy flowers for our little apartment, but here I am with the gift of Vogue posing on my desk. Oops.

Did you get the issue yet? Is it as good as it looks?

THE 4TH & MISS OBI

Er, happy SUPER late independence day to all you guys from the U.S.A.! I'm ten days late, but here are some fireworks for you:
You'll never have any idea how long I tried to capture an okay photo of the fireworks. They are hard for me to shoot! I basically had to ditch the big camera and just use the iPhone in the end.

Our tiny family took off from Austin back home to Abilene, Texas to celebrate July 4th for a long weekend--we shot our own fireworks in the country (this was my first bewildered time to attempt doing so), and during those four days with friends and family, I met a precious little being who now belongs to my older sister:
Obi is a baby black lab, and she is the epitome of playful and sweet.
From the moment I met her, I realized she was a wiggler full of energy. As you can see from above, she doesn't take herself too seriously--something we all can learn from. :)
I absolutely adore it when puppies have to grow into their oversized paws. That wobbly run never fails to make me smile big time.
Gah, I can't stop grinning. I know for a fact that the next time I see Obi (pronounced O-bee), she'll be huge. It was such a joy to see her before she grew up too quickly.

Oh, and a small language lesson for you: Obi means "heart," originated from the African Igbo language. At least, that's what Google told me, anyway.
Did you partake in the celebrations?

Hope you're having a great start to the week!

THE MAKEUP

I was sitting on the bed early this morning and just beginning to put on makeup, and I noticed how absolutely delicious the light looked beaming through the window. So of course, I had to document probably one of the most mundane activities of my daily routine (if I even get around to putting on makeup).
I bet makeup artists probably have such an awesome time playing around with countless choices…but me? All my makeup fits into one little bag that my mom gave me from a summer promotion by Clinique, and it's filled with pretty much just sample makeup and little things from the grocery store.
I tried with all my might to wear foundation at one point in my life, but I finally just gave up after breaking out for years, and now it's down to blush, concealer for my tired eyes, eyeliner, and mascara. Lipstick is happily worn on those dressy days, but Natural Ice chap stick usually does the trick for me.
Makeup:
Concealer: Sorry! Don't have the brand on this one--it was a gift from a friend who bought it in Hong Kong
Mascara: Clinique High-Impact Mascara in Black

I could take photos in this beautiful light for the rest of my LIFE.

Hope you guys are having a wonderful week so far. xoxo
